"Hmph." Said Karl Atlas, walking around the Obelisk Blue dorm. "Another Slifer Red punk taken down..." He said.
Karl, the oddball of the Obelisk Blue dorm, who barely socialized with anyone who did not start the conversation, unless it was with his sister.
"PAthetic... all of those damn Slifers..."

(Okay, I'm coming up blank with making a new academy student character so I'm gonna add a little bit of story into this, but Sora, Imma need some NPC control from you.)
Adam walked up the front steps of Duel Academy and he looked up at the large building. "This is crazy," he chuckled to himself. When he and his friends had started dueling, they had to teach themselves, but now they had a whole school devoted to teaching people how to duel.
As he entered the building through the front door, he headed into the front office and held up a small letter as he headed over to a lady behind the desk. "Hi," he said pleasantly. "I'm Adam Wallace. I was invited to attend a lecture here on effectively implimenting spells and traps. Could you please tell me where I need to go."

"Certantly, young man." Said the front desk lady. "It's down that hallway, keep goign down for about 10 doors, make a right, keep going, then it's the last room on the end."

"Thank you," said Adam and he left the front office. Following the lady's directions, he walked down the hall. As he turned the corner, he passed a boy walking the other direction. By the navy blue uniform, he could tell he was an Obelisk Blue student, one of the higher ranked students in the school. "Aren't you going to the lecture?" he asked as he stopped and turned around. "I thought most of the school would be attending."

"It's mostly Obelisk Blue students going." He said, continuing to walk. "And yes, I am."

"Well, suit yourself," said Adam and he kept walking. As he entered the academy's auditorium, he looked around the huge room at all of the students that had been invited. There were even some other people around the room that appeared to not be students. They were probably other duelists like him that had been invited from outside. For a moment, he wondered if any of the people he had met from before had been invited. He then made his way over to an empty seat and sat down in on isle seat next to a few Slifer Reds. to be honest, he didn't mind that they were Slifers. Class and status didn't really matter to him.

Sitting along side some Slifer Red students was Obelisk Blue studen Huang Yueshui, known affectionately as "the Mermaid Princess" by some other students. She liked hanging out with students from the other dorms, partially because they felt more "real" at times; sometimes the Obelisk Blue students felt too superficial and snobby. Also, her arch rival would never mingle with Slifer Red students, so it was a good way to avoid her.
Yueshui smiled kindly to the other students and settled in for the lecture. She noticed an Occidental boy with messy dark blond hair come in and sit some distance away from her in the same row. He didn't look to be a student; Yueshui wondered who he was, especially since he looked familiar. It annoyed her when she couldn't remember a face.

KArl then sat down, waiting for the lecture to start. he brough this notebook and a pencil with him so he could take some good notes. He then sighed, knowing his sister wasn't going to be there as she was ditching (probably gambling for cards), so he woudl rpboably have to take two sets of notes.

Once everyone looked as if they had taken a seat, a projector started up and a screen dropped down. A moment later, Professor Rowan, a teacher at the academy walked out onto the stage, taking a position behind a podium. With a clicker in his hand, he cleared his throat and started up a slide show. "To start off," he said as he began. "Let me discuss spell cards. Often, a Spell Card has a single effect to provide a bonus to the user or a weakness to the opponent. It isn't, however, unheard of to come across a spell card with more than one ability. Although Spell Cards are often not as powerful as a Trap Card, they have the advantage that they may be played the turn they are drawn without having to Set them first. In a typical Deck, Spell Cards occupy a little less than half of the total deck size and along with trap cards, are equal to the number of monsters in the deck," he explained. "Used properly, a single Spell Card can significantly alter the game in the user's favour. It isn't uncommon for a player to win a Duel with the use of a single Spell Card. Snatch Steal is a common example of a Spell Card that is capable of winning a Duel," he said and a picture of the 'Snatch Steal' card appeared on the projector. The Professor then went into the differences between normal spell cards, quick-play spells, field spells, equip spells, continuous spells, and ritual spells. Then, he switched over to trap cards. "Trap cards," said the Professor. "Have various effects to make things difficult for your opponent or easier for you in a Duel. A Trap Card must be Set and can only be activated after the current turn has finished, with a few exceptions. They may also be activated during your opponent's turn." Then, just like before, he went into the differences between normal trap cards, continuous traps, and counter traps. All in all, the lecture took the better part of an hour and ended on the topic of how to most effectively use counter trap cards in a chain.

As Adam left the assembly room with the flood of students, he turned off the audio recorder he had been holding up. He would write down the important stuff later. Even though a lot of what he had heard was stuff he already knew, he had picked up a few useful tips that he was now eager to try out.

The words echoed in Adam's mind as he heard them spoken from someone nearby. Someone else was looking for a duel as well. Sure enough, as he looked around, he saw the Obelisk Blue that he had seen before. "You're looking for a duel?" he asked loud enough for the guy to hear him over the crowd. "I'm ready to throw down myself? Care to throw down?"

(Alright, since its my post, I'm gonna employ some NPC control if that's okay.)
As Adam whipped out his duel disk and turned it on, the students that were still filing out of the assembly cleared a space between him and the Obelisk student and began to group up around the gap in order to get the best view possible.
Drawing a full hand and then another card as his draw, Adam examined his hand.
(Main Phase 1) "I'll start things off with Sapphire Pegasus (1800/1200)!" announced Adam and he played the monster on the field. "And I'll use its special ability to bring Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle from my deck to my spell and trap card zone." At that time, a large ruby appeared on the field in his magic and trap card zone. "Now, I'll play the feld spell card Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins!" he called out and as the field spell activated, the playing field between them changed. "I'll set one card face down. That's it for now."
(End Phase)

(Draw Phase) Adam drew a card and studied the field. The Luster Dragon had more original attack points than any of his Crystal Beasts. He would have to play defensively until the right time.
(Main Phase) "I play a monster in defense mode," said Adam. "And I'm switching my Sapphire Pegasus to defense mode. That'll do it for me."
(End Phase)
(Summary)
Deck: 48
LP: 8000

Monsters (2): Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus (1800/1200)(ATK), Facedown (DEF)

Even as Sapphire Pegasus was destroyed by Blizzard Dragon, Adam kept his cool. "I flip summon Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise (600/2000)!" he called out as his defense position card flipped up. "And since you destroyed him, my Pegasus is sent to my magic and trap card zone instead."

Adam took the Blizzard Dragon's attack and grinned. He was really having fun with this now. With the cards he had, he'd pull out a whole new dragon. (Draw Phase)
(Main Phase 1) "I'm gonna play the spell card Crystal Promise!" he annouced as he played the card. "With this, I'm bringing back my Ruby Carbuncle and with it, all of my other Crystal Beasts in the spell and trap card zone." As all of the crystals in the s/t zone disappeared, the four beasts reappeared on the field. "Now, I'm playing the tuner monster Water Spirit. With this, I'm going to triple-synchro-summon." As Sapphire Pegasus and Emerald tortoise became seven spheres of light, the Water spirit became a single ring of green light. "Clustering hopes become a new shining star! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Take flight! Stardust Dragon!" As Stardust Dragon appeared on his field, Adam gazed up at it for a moment. "With him on my field, I'll end my turn." (End Phase)
